THE MESSAGES THAT SECRETS KEEP
Writing is a passion of mine, and allows me a creative escape with which I can connect to a targeted audience. I am currently completing my MFA in creative writing, and am working on developing idea that has been many years in the making. I invite you to read an excerpt from my novel, The Messages That Secrets Keep.
The Messages That Secrets Keep tells the story of 18 year old Ellie Kramer and 19 year old Daniel Lange in Dresden, Germany during the second world war. Ellie and Daniel are childhood friends whose relationship is complicated when Daniel is called to serve in Hitler's army. Ellie, wanting to stick to her morals and do the right thing, makes the dangerous decision to help Jews to safety by working as a messenger for the rebellion, while working hard to keep her secret from Daniel. Daniel is determined to live up to his father's last words and serve his country faithfully, but when Daniel learns about Ellie's secret, he has a choice to make. He must give up his best friend and love of his life for the sake of the German army, or keep her secret in order to save her and her family.
